In honor of Graham P.'s loving involvement with the students at Canterbury Elementary School (CES), the Chynoweth family has created two book awards to be given in Graham P.'s memory every school year.
The first award will be a dictionary and/or a book on grammar and spelling. This award will be given annually to the winner of the CES's spelling bee. This award is inspired by Graham P.'s passion for and love of words and language and the fact that he judged the CES Spelling Bee for years.
The second award will be a biography and/or video about Benjamin Franklin or Benjamin Franklin and other signers of the Constitution. This award will be given annually to the winner of the "Living the Constitution" Essay Contest conducted at CES in connection with Constitution Day. The essay contest prompt is: In what ways are you living out, or do you plan live
out, the principles enshrined in the Constitution of the United States of America?
This award is inspired by Graham P.'s love of public service, the law, and the principles in which our nation's democracy are rooted. Additionally, it is inspired by the many years in which Graham P. (with great joy and much gusto) visited CES students on Constitution Day dressed up as, and impersonating, Mr. Franklin.
We encourage you to consider helping us endow these awards. For more information, please contact graychynoweth@hotmail.com. Thank You
